Connecting
Columbus

Where we began

To close the digital divide and bring affordable Wi-Fi to Columbus families living without home internet during the 2020 global pandemic, the City of Columbus and Smart Columbus launched two internet pilot programs on Columbus’ East and South sides. These low-cost Wi-Fi programs enabled residents to participate in distance learning and telehealth opportunities and stay connected to their families and communities.

Where we’re headed

Over the last two years, feedback from the community confirmed the need for better internet speed at an affordable price. We believe the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is the answer. The ACP is a federally backed subsidy project offering residents a $30 monthly credit while partnering with internet providers to deliver a $30 plan.

To learn more or apply for the Affordable Connectivity Program, please visit bit.ly/acpcbus or call any of the participating internet service providers below. *

* Please note that this isn’t an endorsement of any of these providers. However, these are a few providers that currently offer ACP in your area. You may contact any internet provider to enroll in the ACP.

A final note

To focus our efforts on ensuring everyone who qualifies for the Affordable Connectivity Program is enrolled, we will be closing the current South Side pilot at the end of 2022. We’d like to thank all our participants for their feedback on the programs! Thanks for journeying with us as we seek new and better ways to keep Columbus connected.
